Day 10, February 26, 2010
Today as I was driving to work I noticed that the sunrise was just beautiful! I was running a little later than usual and knowing I needed to get to work and get stuff done before the kids started showing up, I was stopped at the light to turn onto 8400 West and figured it was the perfect time to pull out the camera and take a few shots so I wouldn't miss it all. I love the view from out there. Just incredible! And the colors this morning were amazing!

Day 11, February 27, 2010
This week my friend Maria was celebrating her birthday at the Tavernacle - one of my favorite bars! It was a BLAST!! We got there pretty early so that we could be sure to get our seats - we had some of the best seats in the house. Here is the view I had from my seat - I love that I could get the sign at the bar and the piano in one shot!

Technically this could be posted under day 12 but I'm gonna keep it with day 11 because it was the end of the PARTY at the Tavernacle. The original was very dark and all you could see was the do not enter sign. But when I played with it a little bit, this is what happened.. and I LOVE it!

Day 12, February 28, 2010

Today as I was driving home I stopped at the stop sign on 11th east, as I always do, and admired the view of downtown. This time I decided I should take a pic of the view. Not the greatest of shots, but I love the streak of white and red lights as the cars continue on their way.

Day 9

Day 9, February 25, 2010

Today I had to stay late because of wrestling (the last day I have to- yeah!) I got a lot of work done and I was quite excited because now, you can actually see my desk!

My latest prized possession - Italian - English dictionaries. Teaching Italian with NO resources has proven to be a pain in the ass! I finally was able to order a classroom set of dictionaries and they have proven to be a LIFESAVER!! Not many people would get excited about dictionaries but I sure do!

Day #8

Day 8, February 24, 2010

This first picture I actually took the other day but for some reason it wouldn't upload... anywho, I thought I would add it because it reminds me a lot of Clinton - I have always loved the view of Antelope Island from 1300N... Granted it isn't Antelope Island nor is it the wheat field in Clinton, but still a beautiful view.
Today I figured since I was going to be stuck in Magna ALL NIGHT because of work stuff, I would take a few pictures around where I work. My school is just down the street from Magna's main street which these days - doesn't really amount to much but driving down it, I can just imagine what this street was like during the mining heydays there.

This first shot is just a mural on the side of a building advertising the Magna Times - the local newspaper.
And a black and white shot too...

And finally, the famous Colosimo's Sausage store. I never realized that Colosimo's was so close! I now know where I need to visit to get me some good Italian sausage!

I love this pic too because it looks like a painting!

Days #6 and #7

I haven't been able to get out and take pics anywhere other than my apt lately but I've kept on taking pics everyday. I have always enjoyed shooting candles and things with different designs and see what happens... a few of my better ones if you ask me!

Day 4

Day 4, February 20, 2010
A friend of mine had a Mardi Gras party this weekend and it was quite the party! Everyone with their masks, good food and drinks, and can't forget the traditional mardi gras king cake!
This first pic is me and some of my favorite people!
Danny is quite the collector of masks - and I had fun taking pics of a few of them!
Erika trying on one of the masks. I love this shot!
Day #5
I was pretty excited about this dinner I had to take pictures of it. I have, in the last few years, discovered pirogies and I love them with lots and lots of veggies!

And there is more to come...

Day #3

Here is day 3... again.. nothing too spectacular. But hey, they are still pics :)

Tonight my friend Ramon and I went to an art show for our friend Justin who does some amazing work! Wish I were rich enough to afford some of his art! So, while we were out on the town I took a few pictures. They aren't the greatest mostly because it has been so long since I have taken a lot of photos that I have forgotten how to use a lot of the settings... I definitely need to relearn!
Day 3, February 19, 2010
Drinks at the Bayou!

streets of SLC!

Day #2

Thursday night I was wandering around my little apartment wondering what I could take pictures of for day #2 of my little photo journey... I was running out of ideas when I found a few books I had ordered to use in my Italian class. They are two of my (and I am sure just about every childs) favorite books. I remember I was so excited when I found them because we all know the stories and so I figured it would be a great teaching tool for my class... I have yet to use them but now that I remember I have them, I'm sure they will become well used by the end of the school year.
Day 2, February 18, 2010

This next picture is a very crappy shot but it is one of my favorite spots in my apt. It is the side of my albeit, very small refrigerator but it is where I put all the pictures up that family and friends send me. And of course I gotta have the family pic in the middle.. I love my dad's little perm 'fro- it is hard to see in this shot but it is there! Classic!

40+ pics in 40 days

Carnevale is officially over and the season of Lent has officially begun. Even though I'm not Catholic - hell, I'm not even religious but I look at Lent as a time to make a new goal. Typically I find something to give up for 40 days like caffeine or candy... considering my stressful life, that's not going to happen! So I thought I would give Lent a little twist this year and do something different.

As any of you reading this know, I LOVE photography - probably my most treasured hobby. Well, I have been in a bit of a photo rut lately and have hardly taken any pictures this year. So.... my goal during Lent this year is

40+ pics in 40 days
.

I do have to admit, I did not come up with this idea completely on my own. I stole the idea from my friend Pam who is doing a similar photo journey. Thanks for the idea Pam!

Here are the pics for day 1: Considering Carnevale festivities ended yesterday I thought I would take record the results of some of the festivities in my Italian class yesterday - after learning about Carnevale celebrations in Venice, Italy, my students decorated paper masks. Some were very creative and unfortunately, some of the most creative ones left my classroom with their owner before I could take pics today. But nonetheless...
